Hello everyone of Karma Police. I'm what you might call a casual member, much like chrono. I'm that guy from the classic rock group that's trying every so often to find some new stuff. I've been granted permission to do a Sounds of Karma post, and what we've got here is some songs by new bands that I enjoy. (and some new stuff by some old dudes) I'm in no way a new rock buff, like most of you... and I'm pretty ignorant towards the indie world... but I'm still gonna get a crack at this.

1. Sleeping Giant - Mastodon

I picked an easier on the ears song from this groove metal band. Mastodon got started in the late 90's with the album Remission, and have since released such gems as Leviathan in 2004 and Blood Mountain in 2006 -- the last being where this song comes from. It's a nice three and a half minute track. Not too heavy, not too scary. The video is pretty whacked out...

2. Conjugal Burns - The Mars Volta

I figured the video for "Goliath" had already been over used by Nomar, so I went with this one. I've only got Bedlam in Goliath from this band, which is their 4th album. And lets just say it was fun to listen too. At times it was a bit too chaotic, but at others it was fricking awesome. Great song here with some random video from a movie starring Christian Bale.

3. Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners - Foo Fighters

Yet again, I figured I couldnt use the big song. I figured "The Pretender" had been used as well, so I went with this little instrumental Dave Grohl cooked up on the 2007 album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.

4. Judas Rising - Judas Priest

Old Artist, New Material Alert: This is one of two songs I have from Priest's 2005 album Angel of Retribution. The other being "Revolution", which is more an energizing anthem than anything else. This song is "meh" when listening to it on the album. When listening to it and experiencing it live, like a lot of Priest music, it's a hell of a lot better.

5. Love Train - Wolfmother

Bam! Wolfmother f*cking pwns. Their debut album Wolfmother got me hooked and I cant wait 'til their second album. Somehow the version of this song that I downloaded was a live one, which wasnt too bad. And I know Cardsox,
